I just got out of a full-day meeting with the other elders of Northwest Christian Community. John, Wanda, Eric, Elmer, Joe (and Jerry, who wasn't here today) are men and a woman who are passionate about their relationship with Jesus and take their role of leading the church seriously. Here's what makes me excited about working with them:
1) They love Jesus more than anything. They want to make him happy more than themselves.
2) They are willing to sacrifice personally to lead well. Most of them took time off of work to be here today. They used personal time to be in a meeting to talk about strategy and building issues.
3) They are eager to jump in and help make things happen. They don't agree and then assign all the tasks to the staff. They are giving of themselves to move forward.
What a gift to work and share life with these leaders.
